It’s important to maintain great pelvic health during your pregnancy as it can help decrease damage to your pelvic area, makes labour less risky, and lowers the risk of post-natal pelvic issues.
Our team can develop a pregnancy care program designed to help women through the full term of their pregnancy and beyond.
To begin, we set goals for your pregnancy, discuss your medical history, conduct assessments (pelvic health and postural) and then design a tailored program for you. You will then start your physiotherapy and exercise programme, which should cover your first 2 trimesters.
We will review your goals and conduct assessments to see where your pelvic health is at. Based on this we will adjust your programme as needed.
Just prior to birth we will sit down and discuss any concerns you might have, and your preferred birthing pathway with optimal positions as based on your prior screening. We will also review your goals, assess your pelvic health, and look at ways we can help reduce the risk of back and pelvic pain.
At this stage, we will focus on understanding where your body is at after birth and discuss how we can help you regain your pelvic health.
There are many services out there offering pelvic floor treatments and hundreds of online tutorials, but nothing that can compare to being correctly diagnosed and having a personalised treatment programme designed and managed by a physio specially trained in pelvic health.
